The traditional four pillars of resilience are mental, physical, social, and spiritual. There is no good model for human thriving that does not include all four pillars. This book addresses the mental pillar, specifically the “negativity bias” that affects all people, children and adults alike. The negativity bias can hamper our ability to enjoy life and one another. One thing we can all learn to do is to “hunt the good stuff!” Parents can use this book to teach their children that they have agency in looking for reasons to be grateful. We must not merely try to be grateful; we must train for gratitude. Trying usually ends when we fail. Training is about both success and failure. When we are training, we can mess up, get up, and move on. We can all train to more consistently say, “see you later Complainagator!”
